A Perth team
that runs servers.
Alphacore is an Australian IT business with a deep focus on server management. Linux servers, cPanel/WHM hosts, dedicated and VPS machines — we run them well enough that you forget about them. Around that core we still offer the broader IT services our clients have always relied on us for.
Built by people who like running servers.
Over twenty years of running Linux servers and working in the cyber security field is the experience underneath everything we do. It's why we don't guess, and it's why most of the businesses we work with stay with us once they've moved across.
Alphacore came together because we kept inheriting servers. A client would come to us with a problem — a website was slow, an email server had stopped sending, a hosting bill had quietly tripled — and underneath every one of those problems was a server that nobody had been looking after. So we started looking after them. Then we started looking after more of them. After a few years it stopped being a side line and started being what we did.
Today the business is structured around it. The tooling we've built, the way we on-board new servers, the way we document what's running, the way we handle out-of-hours incidents — all of it is shaped by years of running production servers for businesses that depend on them.
A few things we believe.
Not values posters. Just the operational principles that decide how we actually do the work.
Document the server, not the salesman.
Every server we manage gets a written runbook — what's running, how to get in, how to restore it. You get a copy. Whether you stay with us or not, that document is yours.
If we don't know, we say so.
The fastest way to break a server is to fake confidence. If you ask us about something we haven't worked on, we'll tell you. Then we'll either learn it on our time or refer you to someone who knows it cold.
Backups aren't backups until you've restored from them.
Every backup we configure gets restored at least once. A backup that's never been restored is a hope, not a backup. We've inherited too many of the latter.
Pricing is a quote, not a negotiation.
The number we send is the number that ends up on the invoice. No setup fees nobody mentioned, no "minor scope adjustments" mid-project, no annual price creep we didn't tell you about.
You can leave.
No three-year contracts. Notice period is one month. If you want to take your servers elsewhere, we'll hand over the runbooks, the credentials, the monitoring config — everything you need to walk out the door cleanly.
Typical engagement
- Hosting providers and resellers running cPanel/WHM
- SaaS companies with one or two production VPSes
- Web agencies who'd rather not own a server, but do
- SMBs with an internal application running on a dedicated box
- Other IT companies who don't have Linux deep on the bench
Mostly businesses who own servers but don't want to staff the people to run them.
Hiring a sysadmin is expensive. Training a sysadmin is expensive. Keeping a sysadmin engaged when there's only one server to look after is harder still. Most of the businesses we work with are happy to hand the work over and get their evenings back.
